Sina's BMW 318i Project

Well, thought that as Post #1,000, I'd ought to start a project thread for my car. I really started driving this car today, 4.12.2010. Long story short. I grew up around this car, it was my aunt's car. Everything about this car intrigued me, even as a little kid I knew I had to have it someday. The car spent its entire life in San Mateo, Ca. 7/1990 (1991) BMW 318i/4, M42B18. I learned a few things. Apparently, the original owner of the car was my town's Fire Chief. So this car has apparently made it full circle back to my hometown. I tracked him down, and apparently he bought the car brand new at Weatherford BMW, in Berkeley, California. The car was delivered to him February 24th, 1991. This car was always very nicely kept, and I planned on keeping it that way. So today, I went and picked the car up, being the first time I've driven it in a while. This is the beginning of a long relationship. This car is second in my book to my first car, a 1983 Peugeot 505 STI, which my dad bought brand new. I'm currently a senior in High school, and this car will be a budget build, as I'm planning on attending College, grad school, and I'm usually busy with Rowing All year long. I love Bimmers, Volvos, Peugeots, & all European cars. However, I cannot see myself in an automotive profession, as I feel it would ruin the true spirit of my hobby.
Now let the 318-associated flaming begin. I love this car, its power isn't too bad for me either. It has decent pull. The car is Diamantschwarz Metallic. IMO, BMW's best color. I want a very period-correct Car. My aim is to have a nice, subtle, European-Spec E30 with some added flair.

Congrats and best wishes on the project. I just bought a full mtech II sedan kit, but I'm still waiting for delivery. If everthing works out with the Mtech II, I'll be pulling off all the DS body kit parts currently on my car.

holy shit you serious? that really is my dream car. I think i mentioned somewhere in your thread, that that would make your car perfect. something about DS, M-tech II, and four doors.

Win!

Yeah, it was opportunity I couldn't pass up, even though I really like my current set-up. Hopefully it all works out.

I was there yesterday! In fact, I copped the Bosch Foglights off that same car with the headrests...and I got all the window switches, power mirror, and fog light switch I needed for my car too.
lol you see that red car with the 80s bodykit? I didn't have enough or I would have gotten the headrests and shit. Also, all their late models fogs they had were fucked up

what do you guys think for a complete newbie?
I painted my Bumper Trim, Lip, and muffler tip.
Tomorrow after practice, I'm painting my grilles!
I need to get some DS paint and do the bumper cover, and other misc. parts.

today, I painted my grills. I *just* grabbed my center grilles from the backyard, I prepped & painted it right before dinner. So bear with my crappy pictures in front of our house, I'll snap some good shots after regional champs this upcoming weekend!

Today, I picked up a pair of *flawless* ellipsoid fogs. I started installing them, but realized that my passenger side is missing wiring & the harness , and I need to get a relay, as well as figure out the installation for the switch & button. I already have the switch and button for the dash as well.

also- took it for a run around the hills after a nice hill climb on the roadie.
