Z31maniac's DD 318is
Introducing Holly.
Buddy enlisted the help of Guten Parts to find him a new daily driver. Original plan called for a black, white or red 325is, bring it back to the shop for a long list of maintenance and mods but when this clean slicktop 318is came up, we couldn't pass it up. Robby, the previous owner, was sad to let her go. Met him halfway between NJ and VA, in Baltimore. (why do people live there BTW?) ![]() Car was slightly modded, including GC coilovers and konis, motor was replaced with an E36's M42, and the much needed ejnight skidplate. This came in handy no less than two blocks away after sealing the deal with Robby. Would've had to tow the car home if not for it. List of maintenance and mods that the budget allowed: -carpet swapped to grey -door cards swapped to black houndstooth (Buddy has a black sport interior sitting at home which will most likely go in when he gets back to OK) -the diff, swapping in a medium case 4:10vlsd -subframe and rtab swapped for poly bushes -Z3 1.9 SSK -new rotors and pads all the way around -timing chain tensioner -drop lower pan and re-torque upper pan bolts -trademark blinged out cluster courtesy of ZM -headliner dyed black -sound deadening T minus 5 days till Buddy's flight lands! Lets get started.

Interior and Sound Deadening.
So, being a DD, and getting poly bushings, we elected to put some sound deadening around the car to quiet the ride down a little. I'll be using a combination of eDead and the home depot peel'n'seal. Before i got started, i weighed it all up. 27lbs, and that's if i even end up using it all. Should make a huge difference and adding less than 30lbs, should not sacrifice any of the 318's peppiness. Got a few hours in today, and will get remainder of pics over the next few days. Pulled into the shop (excuse the mess!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Punched out the ski pass through for a future Luke box i hear ![]() I must say, probably the cleanest e30 i've ever stripped the interior out of. Not a single spec of rust. Just some water on the floorboards, most likely from the drain plugs which have rotted out. Already stripped down, and ready to silicone back on. Decided to start from the rear, and work my way forward. ![]() I've found this is just the right amount to add to the trunk. Any more, and you need to start thinking about messing with the torsion rods to compensate for the extra weight. Still plenty of material to rid of some vibration and give it a nice "thud" when you close the trunk. ![]() That's where i left off for the evening. **More photos on post #50

Rear Subframe and diff
Pulled out a spare rear carrier and pair of TA's today. Stock bushings removed. ![]() ![]() After powerwash, two coats of black paint, and poly bushes installed. ![]() ![]() Tonight's plan: install new ebrake shoes and cables, new rotors, then swap over the calipers still on the car. Threw a coat of silver on the diff cover and a coat of black on the diff itself. Once dry, will be attached to carrier and await install tomorrow after dropping the complete rear end tomorrow. Update: Rear all together minus rotors and pads. I was sent the wrong ones, so those will show up tomorrow.

Engine and SSK
Unfortunately, the after pic of the shifter was accidentally deleted, but you get the idea. Was replaced with a Z3 1.9 shifter, btw.

They are super clean!
Swapped. Is there such a thing as a non-airbag 318is? News to me.
