Where to get new/remanufactured driveshaft?

The guys who used to own my car, 2002 Resorations in Eugene, told me at the meet that the car would need the driveshaft replaced at some point. At the end of 1st and 2nd, high in the revs, it wobbles and you can feel it in the car. Not a big deal, I just want to know where are some good places to pick up a new or remanufactured driveshaft? Also, about how much am I looking at for a replacement unit?

On another note, they also told me that my car (86 325eS) would use a specific driveshaft, and to make sure I have the right part number. Can anyone shed some light here?

It depends on the transmission's output flange on what driveshaft you run.

Most cars that are built AFTER 04/86 use the same kind of driveshaft, (some with or without the vibration dampener)

I have a 1989 325i driveshaft in my car, with an 86 transmission with a 89 output flange (you can change them with a 30mm thinwall and a 3 way puller)

If I recall correctly your car is a 01/86, so you have the prev output flange, which makes things a tad more difficult, however remember if it gets hard you can always swap the flange with the driveshaft and it will work fine

I might not have been looking very hard, but I couldn't find the production date. It's on that label inside the door jam, right?

I might not have been looking very hard, but I couldn't find the production date. It's on that label inside the door jam, right?

I just thought of something.

I'm swapping my motor to an M20B25 soon, so when I get a tranny to go with it, I'll just get an i driveshaft, and I won't have to worry about the specifics.

hmmmmm could i use the driveshaft from an 88 is in my 87 e?
