1984 325e fuel pump hanger issue

Hey guys, iím trying to put my stock fuel pump hanger in but for some reason it wonít go in all the way. It seems to be hitting the bottom of some pan in the gas tank. Has anyone had this issue and solved it? Thanks

Did you change the pump? Did you orientate it the right way?

I remember replacing the in-fuel pump and had the same issue, then realized I was trying to put it in with the fuel level sender already installed on the hanger. The fuel level sender goes in after the hanger assembly....basically last thing before reconnecting the electrical

just checking to make sure you didnít do what I did
